Bayer once invites Master and PhD students from Europe to our virtual career workshop "Engineering & Technology Pioneers @ Bayer". On three afternoons in November, we will help students gain an insight into our everyday work and career opportunities as well as into technical aspects of our work. The event finishes with information from Human Resources and a talk with a young colleague about applying to and starting to work at Bayer. Students need to apply online, the application deadline is September 30th.
On September 7-9, we organized the 45th annual meeting of Principia Cybernetica 2022 in Trencin. As a part of the Technical Programme, we have also visited an interesting presentation of HELLA company.
As part of the Summer University for High School Students at STU, high school students visited on Friday (September, 9) also IAM, where they learned more about automation and process control in the chemical and food industry.
On September 5-7, we organized an annual meeting IAM in Trencin, Slovakia.
On August 31, IAM organized a scientific seminar on "Differentiable Programming for Modeling and Control of Energy Systems". The scientific seminar was led by our alumni Dr. Ján Drgoňa (Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, USA).
We are authors of a new paper in the prestigious international scientific journal Computers & Chemical Engineering:
Peter Bakaráč - Michaela Horváthová - Lenka Galčíková - Juraj Oravec - Monika Bakošová: Approximated MPC for embedded hardware: Recursive random shooting approach
The paper presents a nearly-optimal control suitable for implementation on the embedded hardware with limited energy resources. The publisher Elsevier provides open access to new research articles for 50 days to help share the current results.
Dr. Martin Klaučo and Karol Kiš participated in the 18th IFAC Workshop on Control Applications of Optimization, which took place at Centrale Supélec, Paris-Saclay University on July, 18-22. Karol Kiš gave a lecture on:
Karol Kiš - Peter Bakaráč - Martin Klaučo: Nearly Optimal Tunable MPC Strategies on Embedded Platforms
and Dr. Martin Klaučo was the chairman of the session: Optimization-Based Applications.
On July 26, 2022, a workshop was held in room NB641 in cooperation with prof. Y. Shardt from TU Ilmenau. Two lectures were given. The workshop was open to all participants.
Habilitation lecture and defence of the habilitation thesis Ing. Martin Klaučo. PhD. took place on July 1, 2022.
Together with our colleagues from ShanghaiTech University, China and Automatic Control Laboratory, EPFL, Switzerland, we published a new research paper in the international scientific journal IEEE Control Systems Letters:
Jiahe Shi - Yuning Jiang - Juraj Oravec - Boris Houska: Parallel MPC for Linear Systems with State and Input Constraints
The paper presents a distributed MPC design method for systems with input and state constraints. The illustrative case study demonstrates the significant reduction of the runtimes necessary to solve the optimization problem compared to the conventional MPC design approach.
