Course unit code:
42202_4B
Course unit title:
Laboratory Exercises of Process Control
Mode of delivery, planned learning activities and teaching methods:
laboratory practice – 2 hours weekly (on-site method)
Credits allocated:
2
Recommended semester:
Chemical Engineering – bachelor (full-time, attendance method), 6. semester
Chemistry, Medical Chemistry and Chemical Materials – bachelor (full-time, attendance method), 6. semester
Automation, Information Engineering and Management in Chemistry and Food Industry – bachelor (full-time, attendance method), 4. semester
Level of study:
1.
Prerequisites for registration:
none
Assesment methods:
The students write tests at the beginning of laboratory verifying the readiness to practice. They write reports of the individual assignments. The final rating is calculated as follows: 20% tests from the laboratory, 80% reports. The final rating will be determined in accordance with rules established by the study rules STU.
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Students know fundamentals of modelling and control of processes in chemical and food technology. They are able to develop simple static and dynamic models of tanks, heat exchangers and chemical reactors. They are able to derive input-output process models in the form of transfer functions and to follow the process dynamic using models in the form of transfer functions. The students are able to identify the transfer functions of the controlled processes using an experimental-statistic method. They know principles of on-off and PID controllers. They are able to choose the structure of PID controllers and to tune the controller parameters. They are familiar with simulation tool MATLAB-Simulink.
