Assesment methods:
Students will write 1 test during the semester. The sum of points for the test is 30. Students will successfully pass the test if they earn at least 16 points. Students also have to pass the oral exam. The maximum number of points for the oral exam is 20 and the students will pass the oral exam successfully if they earn at least 10 points. Students will get credits for the course if they successfully pass both, the written test and the oral exam. Students are graded as follows: A 46-50 points, B 41-45 points, C 36-40, D 31-35 points, E 26-30 points
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Student knows a complex and wholesome overview of the basic concepts and relationships of economy and company management in a market environment. He has knowledge of the operation of company processes from an economic standpoint. He knows basic principles of effective company management, which wants to succeed in a competitive environment. The acquired information will provide the student with the necessary basics for further study of company management.

Company and its standing in the market economy, supply and demand
Company management – purpose and functions
Factors of a business environment
Fundamentals of marketing, purpose of marketing approach in company management
Company as a socio-technological system, production process and its division
Inputs into the production process:
– long-term property and its effective usage
– circulating property, material company management
– human recources management, motivation, stimulation of employees
Costs of a company, characteristics and division
Calculation of costs and product price determination
Break even point
Financing of a company, financing sources of company
Fundamentals of financial analysis
