- N422R1_4I
- Course unit title:
- Control of Technological Processes
- Mode of delivery, planned learning activities and teaching methods:
- lecture – 1 hour weekly (on-site method)
laboratory practice – 1 hour weekly (on-site method)
- Credits allocated:
- 2
- Recommended semester:
- Conservation of Heritage Materials and Objects – master (full-time, attendance method), 3. semester
Natural and Synthetic Polymers – master (full-time, attendance method), 3. semester
Biotechnology – master (full-time, attendance method), 1. semester
- Level of study:
- 2.
- Prerequisites for registration:
- none
- Assesment methods:
- The students write 2 written tests during the semester. They write also tests at the beginning of laboratory verifying the readiness to practice. They write reports of the individual assignments. The final rating is calculated as follows: 10% tests from the laboratory, 30% reports, 30% each written test. The final rating will be determined in accordance with rules established by the study rules STU
- Learning outcomes of the course unit:
- The students have become familiar with basic principles of identification from aperiodic or periodic step responses. The know principles of feed-back and feed-forward control. They know principles of process control using complex control structures. They know principles of control using simple and complex control structures that are implemented for control of selected processes from the chemical industry.
- Course contents:
- Feedback and feed-forward control. Complex control structures:
cascade control, complex control structure with disturbance measurement, complex control structure with auxiliary control input, time-delay compensator - Smith predictor and its modifications, ratio control, advanced control methods. Process control: control of tanks,
control of mixing units, control of heat exchangers, control of distillation
columns, control of chemical reactors, control of dryers.
